[Case Study of Air Conditioning Clothing] Daiwa Track Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
By introducing air-conditioned clothing, production during the summer increased by 30% as a measure against heatstroke and heat.
Yamato Kido Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is a company that supports the Japanese railway industry by manufacturing rails for the Shinkansen and various JR and private railways across the country. Rail manufacturing is an extremely harsh environment during the summer due to the use of heat. In the process of grinding and smoothing heated rails, the temperature of the rails can exceed 1000°C. Additionally, during the bonding process, fans cannot be used because dust is undesirable, and the temperature is raised to 60°C. As a result, many workers suffered from heatstroke and were unable to return to work, leading to concerns about heatstroke prevention. The company has been using air-conditioned clothing since the prototype sales in 2004 and fully implemented it for all 130 employees in 2012. Since the introduction of air-conditioned clothing, there have been no workers collapsing from heatstroke, and summer production has increased by an impressive 30%.
